In January 2024, five new colors were introduced for the popular wrapping paper “Creer,” known for its double-sided water repellency and exquisite nuanced colors, bringing the total to 15 colors. Additionally, a new release of satin-woven ribbons, “Satin Premier (available in 12 colors),” featuring an unprecedented matte texture, was launched simultaneously. In July, 13 more colors were added to the “Satin Premiere” lineup, allowing for a wider variety of combinations to be enjoyed. These two items, which blend well with the textures of flowers, human skin, and the surrounding spaces and landscapes, are Tokyo Ribbon’s recommended items for 2024. We will now introduce the distinctive features of each item and present flower-matching coordinates throughout a year.

A popular wrapping paper known for its plain texture, vibrant floral colors, and double-sided water repellent treatment. The paper has a robust texture and is made of a firm material, allowing for a usage experience similar to non-woven fabric due to its adhesive quality. In addition to the existing 10 colors, five new vibrant shades have been added, making a total of 15 colors available, including options that complement vivid flowers.

In contrast to matte and natural-textured paper items, the choice of ribbons has been somewhat limited.
Traditional ribbons such as cotton, grosgrain, and petersham, which lack a relatively glossy finish, tend to result in a casual appearance. This makes it challenging to use them for creating a luxurious feel in flower gifts. On the other hand, conventional satin ribbons, with their shine, may conflict with the texture of paper items and flowers, occasionally leading to an incongruous impression.

To overcome these challenges, Tokyo Ribbon has been exploring ribbons that blend well with both flowers and paper, providing a pleasing texture while also exuding a sense of luxury. The solution found is the “Matte Satin Ribbon.” Emphasizing convenience and versatility, the supple yet well-standing finish is suitable for both butterfly and French bow ties, offering a texture that is easy to work with for various purposes.
